The Procurement Commission Approves 21 Projects Worth Approximately AFN 6.5 Billion

The regular meeting of the Procurement Commission, chaired by the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, was held today, Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the Marmarin Palace. A total of 34 projects were presented to the meeting for approval.
Following comprehensive discussions, 21 projects worth approximately AFN 6.5 billion were approved, while necessary amendments to 12 projects were also approved. In addition, a designated committee was tasked with negotiating the price of one project with the winning company and submitting its report to the leadership of the Procurement Commission.
The approved and amended projects include the rehabilitation of the Managi Hydropower Dam in Kunar Province; the procurement of scanners for customs offices at the airports of Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Balkh, and Khost provinces; the construction of a provincial hospital in Helmand Province; the construction of general hospitals in Shighnan District of Badakhshan Province, Chak District of Maidan Wardak Province, and Qala-e-Zal District of Kunduz Province; as well as the implementation of several electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces.
The approved projects will be financed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
