Practical Implementation of the First Phase of Azizi Energy’s 10,000-Megawatt Power Generation Project to Begin Soon

The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today, August 27, 2025, in his office with national entrepreneur Mirwais Azizi, CEO of Azizi Energy, along with his technical team.
During the meeting, Mr. Azizi presented a progress report on the 10,000-megawatt power project to the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs. He stated that following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, his teams, together with the technical teams of the relevant ministries, had been dispatched to Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Herat, and Bamyan provinces. Over the past two weeks, they have carried out preliminary surveys of several projects and collected technical data. He added that the 10,000-megawatt power generation project has been divided into three phases, with the first phase comprising a capacity of 4,000 megawatts.
According to Azizi Energy officials, practical implementation of the existing projects within the first phase will soon commence in coordination with the relevant ministries and agencies. Mr. Azizi also shared his requests regarding this project with the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs.
The Deputy PM, together with the heads of the relevant ministries and agencies, assured full support and commitment to fulfilling these requests. At the conclusion of the meeting, based on the instructions of Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund, a joint committee consisting of representatives from the relevant ministries, agencies, and Azizi Energy was established and tasked with overseeing and monitoring the implementation of the 10,000-megawatt power generation projects, and to regularly share reports with the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs.
