Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund Inspects the Salang Highway Reconstruction Works

The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, today, on August 31, 2025, inspected the reconstruction works of the Salang Highway.

 

The Deputy PM commended the Ministry of Public Works and the contracted companies for their efforts and instructed them to complete the remaining works of this vital route before the onset of winter, while ensuring quality standards.

 

Officials of the Ministry of Public Works and the contracted companies assured the Deputy PM that the reconstruction of the Salang Highway is continuing in accordance with all required standards, and they are committed to completing the works planned for the current year before winter arrives.

 

At present, the reconstruction works of the Salang Highway from the 10th to the 15th rockfall barrier of the Southern Salang have been completed, bringing the overall progress of the Southern Salang works to 55 percent. The completed rockfall barriers have been reinforced with 85 centimeters of high-quality concrete. Meanwhile, reconstruction works on the Northern Salang are also progressing rapidly.
