Chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the regular session of the Economic Commission took place on January 10th at the Marmarin Palace. The agenda was meticulously discussed during the meeting. Following extensive deliberations, a crucial decision was made, assigning the Afghanistan Railway Authority the responsibility to finalize the railway network construction from Torghondai to the center of Herat and from Andkhoi to Mazar-e-Sharif. Furthermore, the authority is entrusted with crafting a comprehensive plan for extending the railway from Herat to Kandahar, ultimately reaching Spinboldak. This plan, along with the perspectives the railway authority, will be submitted to the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Office for future actions. Participants believe that the completion of these railway networks will significantly boost trade and transit between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, fostering numerous benefits. Additionally, the Economic Commission approved the Ministry of Finance's initiative to disburse 10 percent of the remaining guarantees for contracting companies of government agencies predating the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate. The meeting also sanctioned the establishment of the TAP project secretariat, led by the Ministry of Water and Energy, for the recruitment process. Comprising relevant sectoral ministries, this secretariat will handle the technical and legal aspects of the project. Guidelines introduced by the Afghanistan Academy of Sciences for chicken slaughter, endorsed based on recommendations from the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority, were approved in the meeting. The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock was urged to implement these guidelines rigorously. Concluding the session, after a thorough assessment, the Afghan Post Company was awarded a contract to install GPS in transit vehicles. The company is obligated to submit a report on this matter to the Economic Commission within one month. As per the terms of the contract, the Afghan Post Company will install GPS on every transit vehicle for a fee of 41 dollars.
