The Disaster Management Commission held its meeting under the chairmanship of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund. At this meeting, the solution to the problems of the affected citizens due to recent floods was discussed. The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs evaluated the work of organizations relevant to the Disaster Management Commission and recommended it to the relevant officials to provide emergency aid to the affected people during natural disasters. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund emphasized that serving the people and solving their problems is the priority of the IEA and they will do this with full commitment. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund also stressed transparency in the distribution of aid during natural disasters and added that the relevant ministries and organizations should distribute aid to the victims in a very transparent manner. The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, recommended that all the organizations of the Disaster Management Commission make full preparations to provide assistance to the citizens in case of natural disasters in the future. The member ministries and organizations of the Disaster Management Commission said that they have sent aid teams to the provinces where the floods have caused damage to the people and have provided first aid to most of the affected people. It is important to note that throughout the past month, floods in Afghanistan resulted in 194 fatalities and 265 injuries. Numerous farm animals perished, 600,000 acres of agricultural land were ruined, and numerous canals, local dams, and retaining walls suffered damage.
