The first meeting of the National Procurement Commission was held at Marmarin Palace under the leadership of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and the Head of the National Procurement Commission, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, spoke at the beginning of the meeting urging the attendees to cooperate in advancing this crucial national initiative. Subsequently, the representatives of the National Procurement Department shared information with the participants of the meeting about the department. The discussion of 13 contracts and procurement related topics took place in the other part of the meeting. Seven of the contracts that the Ministries of Finance, Public Health, Kabul Municipality, and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) filed to the National Procurement Department were approved; one contract's approval was postponed, and the remaining five contracts were disapproved. These contracts were of services and reconstruction projects, including the purchase of goods. The meeting concluded with the decision that no administration would be allowed to award the contracts of their respective projects without the approval of the National Procurement Commission. They are obliged to give the contracts of their projects through the National Procurement Department after the approval of the Commission.
