Hajji Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, led a senior government delegation visiting Mes Aynak mine in Logar province. The delegation included the Minister of Mine and Petroleum, Minister of Economy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and the Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology as well the Director of the Administrative Office. Hajji Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund referred to the Aynak Copper Mine as a significant economic source for the country and requested China to begin the practical work of the mine as soon as possible. Besides visiting the area, they met with the officials of the project contractor, MCC, in the area. Finally, the delegation looked at the ancient sites of the mine and made necessary recommendations to the authorities regarding the transfer of ancient artifacts from the area
