Today, November 21, 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, participated in the closing session of the scientific and technical seminar organized by the Ministry of Water and Energy. The seminar aimed at enhancing the capacity of the directors of river basins, advisors, energy zone managers, and engineers from the ministry.
Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund, addressing the session, referred to the value of water and said that Allah has provided guidance to humanity regarding the importance and necessity of water. As an Islamic society, he emphasized our religious obligation to manage water properly, while also highlighting that effective water management is essential in the current era for competing with the world and achieving economic growth, which is a national responsibility.
He pointed out that climate change, rising water pollution, increasing human needs, and reckless consumption have turned water scarcity into a pressing global issue. This challenge, he noted, has affected international political and economic relations among nations.
Referring to the management and control of Afghanistan's water resources, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund stated that while the country has abundant natural water resources, a lack of professional handling has hindered their effective utilization. He affirmed that the Islamic Emirate is committed to improving water management and, with strong determination, will utilize all possible means and resources to address this responsibility.
Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund congratulated the participants who graduated from the short-term scientific and technical training seminar aimed at enhancing their capacities in water management and efficient utilization. He urged them to work with utmost sincerity to develop this critical national sector and improve the well-being of Afghanistan's people.
At the end of the event, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund inaugurated several systems introduced by the Ministry of Water and Energy, including the Water Project Management and Information System, Water Quality Information System, Document Management and Tracking System, Employee Identity Card Management System, and the Capacity Building Training Program.
