Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Meets with Qatar’s Chargé d’Affaires in Kabul

Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today, January 23, 2025 with Qatar’s Chargé d’Affaires for Afghanistan, Dr. Mirdef Alqashouti, at his office. During the meeting, both sides discussed expanding economic relations between Kabul and Doha.

The Deputy PM expressed gratitude for Qatar’s hospitality during Doha Peace Talks and urged the Qatari government and investors to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Afghanistan. He assured them of the Islamic Emirate's full cooperation in this regard.

Qatar’s Chargé d’Affaires, Dr. Mirdef Alqashouti, stated that Qatar is keen to enhance bilateral relations with Afghanistan. He added that efforts are underway to increase passenger and cargo flights between Doha and Kabul. Furthermore, he announced that Qatar would soon begin construction of 400-bed facility at Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar.

Dr. Alqashouti also emphasized Qatar's readiness to cooperate with Afghanistan in the education sector and revealed plans to activate a Qatari charitable organization in Kabul to assist Afghan citizens.
