Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund Meets with the Officials of the Commission for Addressing the Problems of Earthquake Victims in Balkh Province

During his visit to the northern provinces of the country, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today, Thursday, November, 6, 2025, with the officials of the commission assigned to address the problems of the earthquake victims in Balkh Province, at the provincial governor’s office.

At the outset, the commission officials presented a report on the measures taken in various areas to assist the earthquake victims. They stated that so far, all the injured have received medical treatment, and the affected people have been provided with essential food items, medicines, clothing, tents, and other necessary shelter materials. They added that technical survey teams are still active in the affected areas to accurately assess the extent of human and material losses.

The Deputy PM expressed his gratitude for the commission’s efforts and emphasized that upon completion of the survey, the assistance allocated by the Islamic Emirate for the affected citizens should be distributed transparently and without delay.

As a result of the recent earthquake in Balkh Province, 10 citizens were martyred and 447 were injured in seven districts. Moreover, 751 houses were completely destroyed, 1,250 houses and 120 drinking water reservoirs were partially damaged, and 427 livestock also perished.
