Contracts for the commencement of practical work on five major power generation projects were signed between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat and Azizi Energy

In the presence of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the contracts for the commencement of practical work on five major power generation projects with a total capacity of 845 megawatts were signed today, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Government Media and Information Center between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat and Azizi Energy.

Under these agreements, Azizi Energy will generate 100 megawatts of solar power in the Naghlu area of Kabul province, 100 megawatts of solar power in the Barik Ab area of Parwan province, 130 megawatts of solar power in Ghazni province, as well as 165 megawatts of coal-fired power in Takhar province and 350 megawatts of coal-fired power in Baghlan province.

Approximately USD 463 million will be invested in the aforementioned projects. The solar power projects will be completed within two years, while the coal-fired projects will be completed within three years.
