Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund Meets with Dr. Zalmay Khalilzad
The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today, Monday, September 7, 2026, Dr. Zalmay Khalilzad, the former United States Special Representative for Afghanistan, at his office.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the situation in the region, progress made in Afghanistan in the areas of good governance and infrastructure, and existing investment opportunities for foreign companies across various sectors in Afghanistan.
During his remarks, Mr. Khalilzad said that progress has been made in various sectors in Afghanistan and that favorable conditions have been created to attract and encourage foreign investment. He added that a number of companies from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Azerbaijan, and Norway are interested in investing in various sectors in Afghanistan, particularly in the exploration and extraction of oil and gas.
The Deputy PM welcomed the interest of companies from these countries in investing in Afghanistan and said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has created numerous facilities for all investors and provides them with all necessary cooperation and support.
