Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Inaugurates Iron Melting Plant in Kunduz

The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, today (Thursday), September 17, 2026, inaugurated the Khatiz Lmar Iron Melting Plant in Kunduz Province.
At the outset, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund congratulated the people of Kunduz on the commencement of operations at this important factory and expressed appreciation for the sacrifices made by the honorable people of Kunduz for the establishment of the Islamic system. He added that the launch of this industrial plant would create new employment opportunities and contribute to economic development in Kunduz Province.
The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs further stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is making every effort to implement fundamental projects across the country and create the conditions necessary for citizens to enjoy a more comfortable life.
It is worth noting that an investment of $8.6 million has been made by a foreign company in the Khatiz Lmar Iron Melting Plant, which has a daily production capacity of 300 metric tons of rebar. The plant has provided employment opportunities for more than 300 Afghan citizens.
