Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, and his delegation convened with Dr. Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his delegation, on November 5th, Sunday. During this meeting, both sides engaged in discussions concerning collaborative efforts in various domains, including politics, economics, education, culture, and more. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the historical friendship and neighboring ties between Afghanistan and Iran. He highlighted the positive political, economic, and cultural connections between the two nations and underscored the importance of nurturing and strengthening these relations. Mullah Baradar Akhund provided a comprehensive overview of their trade and transit expansion plans with Iran, the establishment of technical committees to facilitate cooperation across various sectors, Afghanistan's engagement with regional and global partners through Iran, increased trade opportunities, investment prospects for Iranian investors in Afghanistan, streamlining visa issuance for Afghan citizens, and addressing the challenges faced by Afghan refugees residing in Iran. Mullah Baradar Akhund further expressed Afghanistan's aspiration to boost its trade, both in terms of exports and imports, by utilizing Iran as a partner. He emphasized the need for the Islamic Republic of Iran to provide essential facilities to facilitate this objective. In response, Dr. Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, assured the Deputy Prime Minister of enhancing bilateral trade, providing necessary facilities in transit, establishing committees for joint initiatives in diverse sectors, and resolving refugee-related issues. He also expressed his encouragement for Iranian investors to engage in Afghanistan and affirmed that relevant authorities would collaborate on these matters. During the meeting, both parties underscored the significance of developing the Wakhan Corridor and leveraging this route, recognizing its mutual benefits. It was agreed that there should be an acceleration in efforts to coordinate this initiative, and the establishment of joint committees to oversee and advance this project.
