On July 25, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, inaugurated the Life Pearl Pharmaceutical Factory in the 9th district of Kabul, marking the commencement of its operations. The ceremony was attended by Acting Minister of Public Health, Maulvi Noor Jalal Jalali, Acting Minister of Economy, Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, several government officials, and representatives from the private sector. Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that high-quality medicines ensure the health of a thriving human society, while substandard drugs pose a threat to life. He stressed that quality must take precedence over quantity in pharmaceutical production. Mullah Baradar Akhund highlighted that this pharmaceutical factory would not only benefit the health of the citizens but also significantly contribute to the country’s economic growth. Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund stated that with the start of this factory’s operations, citizens would have easier access to essential medicines, and a portion of the demand for pharmaceuticals would be met through domestic production. According to him, this would reduce the import of medicines, increase the domestic production level, and ensure the security of drug supply. He assured the factory officials of full cooperation and urged them to produce high-quality medicines in line with international standards, considering the country’s needs. In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister once again called on all investors, highlighting that favorable conditions for investment have been established in Afghanistan. He encouraged them to seize this opportunity to contribute to the country's reconstruction and development. It is noteworthy that a $20 million investment has been made in the Life Pearl Pharmaceutical Factory, which not only produces various medicines but also provides employment opportunities for 300 people.
