Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Lays Foundation Stone for Major Industrial Park in Kunduz

The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, today (Thursday), September 17, 2026, laid the foundation stone for the Abdul Rahman bin Somar Industrial Park in the Abdan Plain of Kunduz Province. The industrial park covers an area of 10,000 jeribs.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund described the industrial park as an important step toward the country’s economic growth, industrial development, and creating an enabling environment for investment. Deputy PM for Economic Affairs added that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has allocated land in various provinces for the development of industrial parks to create employment opportunities for citizens and promote the country’s industrial growth. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said that, as part of the ongoing launch of practical work on these projects, the foundation of the industrial park in Kunduz was laid today.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said that Afghanistan has abundant materials for production, processing, and packaging, adding that production levels have increased in some sectors and opportunities for exports have been created. The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs stated, “To reduce dependence on imports, production must be strengthened, its quality and standards must be improved, and industrial activities must be expanded. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said that with the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, favorable opportunities have been created in the country for economic activities, trade, and investment. The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs said that it is now a good opportunity for investors and industrialists to take advantage of these opportunities and invest in Afghanistan.
According to the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, in recent years, alongside domestic investors, a large number of foreign investors have also begun investing in various sectors in Afghanistan. He added that the Islamic Emirate has approved incentives for all investors and created facilities for them in many areas.
At the end, Deputy PM Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund called on the relevant officials to complete the work on the industrial park on time and in compliance with all required standards.
It is worth noting that the industrial park in Kunduz Province will provide investment opportunities in textiles, pharmaceuticals, food products, construction materials, iron and steel, and other manufacturing sectors. The industrial park will also include a mosque, administrative and commercial areas, a hospital, a bank, a madrasa, a school, and other essential services.
