Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Visited Logar Province
The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Hajji Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, visited Logar province on Friday, Nov 25, 2022. Mr. Baradar Akhund visited different parts of the Aynak Copper Mine there. During the trip, he was accompanied by the ministers of Mine and Petroleum, Economy, Commerce and Industry, Telecommunication and Information Technology, and the Director General of the Administrative Office of the Prime Minister. According to Mr. Baradar Akhund, the Islamic Emirate seeks to strengthen the long-standing ties between China and Afghanistan. The beginning of this significant project will lead to an improvement in Kabul and Beijing relations. He continued by saying that Afghanistan has a variety of natural resources and has now turned out to be a safe and secure country. He urged both domestic and international investors to invest in Afghanistan. Mr. Baradar Akhund referred to the Aynak Copper Mine as a significant economic contributor to the country, and asked China, having signed the contract of the mine extraction, to start the practical work as soon as possible. In addition, Mr. Baradar Akhund visited the ancient sites of this mine and asked the officials of the Ministry of Information and Culture to transfer and preserve the artifacts in the area. It is important to highlight that the Aynak Copper Mine is the second-largest copper mine in the world and the largest in Afghanistan. There are 11.3 million tons of copper in the mine. The mine extraction contract has been signed with MCC, a Chinese Company. The initial work of the project has already begun. With the start of the practical work, thousands of individuals will be given employment opportunities and millions of dollars will be collected for the national revenue of Afghanistan
