On January 28, 2025, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, visited the working process of the Kandahar Shorandam Cement Factory.

The Deputy PM expressed satisfaction with the work carried out and gave necessary instructions to the responsible officials regarding the high quality of the work and its completion within the specified time. The construction of the factory was entrusted to a private company by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, and work is progressing rapidly with an estimated cost of around 8 billion Afghanis.

In the first phase of the factory, the cement production capacity will reach 1,500 tons per day, and in the future, the production capacity will increase to 5,000 tons per day. The establishment of this factory will significantly reduce the imports of cement and will provide employment opportunities to around 5,000 citizens, both directly and indirectly.

It is worth mentioning that the Islamic Emirate recently signed contracts for the construction of the Yatim Taaq and Logar cement factories with Afghan and foreign companies.
