A follow-up meeting of the designated committee, chaired by the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Office, was held today, May 4, 2025, at the Marmarin Palace to discuss the standardization of salt production and processing factories.

During the meeting, a guideline prepared by the Food and Drug Authority of the Ministry of Public Health was shared with the representatives of salt production and processing factories. The factories were mandated to standardize all their operations and products in accordance with this guideline.

Factory representatives stated that a number of factories have partially standardized their operations, and the process is still ongoing. The representatives also cited lack of land and electricity, as well as insufficient availability of iodine in the required quantity, as major challenges.

The Salt Production and Processing Factories Union was tasked with submitting a detailed report within two weeks on the progress made in this regard. The report should include accurate data on the level of production and the amount of iodine required by the factories, and must be submitted in written form to the designated committee led by the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Office.
