Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund Meets Deputy PM of the Republic of Tatarstan

Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today—August 5, 2025—at the Arg with Oleg Vladimirovich Korobchenko, Deputy PM and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan.

During the meeting, both sides discussed expanding economic cooperation and bilateral trade.

Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund began by thanking the Russian Federation for recognizing the Islamic Emirate, noting that this recognition has ushered in a new phase of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate seeks to establish broad economic and trade relations with all republics of the Russian Federation and had productive engagements in this regard during the 16th Kazan International Economic Forum.

The Deputy PM added that the Islamic Emirate has created investment opportunities for both domestic and international investors across various sectors in Afghanistan and is committed to providing all necessary support and cooperation. According to him, the Republic of Tatarstan can seize this opportunity to invest in sectors such as road construction, tunnels, water supply networks, dams, housing, chemical industry, and the water transfer project from Panjshir River to Kabul.

Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund emphasized the need to boost Afghan exports to Tatarstan in order to strengthen bilateral trade between Kabul and Kazan. He also highlighted the importance of importing high-quality food products, pharmaceuticals, and technical equipment from Tatarstan, and stressed enhanced cooperation between the relevant ministries and institutions of both sides.

Following this, Oleg Vladimirovich Korobchenko, Deputy PM of Tatarstan, delivered remarks. He stated that the Russian Federation's recognition of the Islamic Emirate has created significant opportunities for Tatarstan and Afghanistan to interact across various sectors. He expressed readiness to invest in the Panjshir River to Kabul water transfer project, as well as other sectors. He added that during this visit, representatives of Tatarstan’s industrial companies accompanied the delegation and are eager to initiate cooperation with Afghanistan in multiple areas.

In conclusion, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund described the visit of the Tatar delegation to Kabul as the beginning of a new and beneficial chapter in expanding ties between Kabul and Kazan across various fields.
