Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund Inaugurates the Rehabilitation Plan for the Sana-e-Sabz Industrial Park
The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, today, Thursday, Sep 03, 2026, inaugurated the rehabilitation plan for the Sana-e-Sabz Industrial Park in Kabul.
Speaking at the ceremony held on the occasion, Deputy PM Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund said that Afghanistan can achieve intellectual, political and economic independence only when its domestic production, basic infrastructure and scientific capacities are properly strengthened to the required level.
Deputy PM Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund described the Sana-e-Sabz Industrial Park as one of the country’s important industrial parks and said that it would create employment opportunities for hundreds of new manufacturing factories and thousands of citizens. The Deputy PM called on the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing and all officials responsible for the Sana-e-Sabz Industrial Park to ensure that the work is completed properly and in accordance with established standards.
The Deputy PM described the establishment of the Afghanistan Islamic Culture Printing and Publishing Production Center in the industrial park as an important step toward strengthening domestic production. He added that this would enable Afghanistan to meet a major portion of its domestic demand for paper production within the country and reduce reliance on imports.
The Deputy PM also highlighted the importance of the center’s activities in printing and publishing academic works, saying that this would help preserve the country’s Islamic and cultural heritage and enable Afghanistan to take an important step toward self-sufficiency in this sector.
It is worth noting that the Sana-e-Sabz Industrial Park is being developed on 8,200 jeribs of land. Currently, 120 factories are operating there, with approximately $800 million invested in the industrial park.
