Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, conducted an inspection of the Salang highway reconstruction project on October 30th. During this visit, he was accompanied by Mullah Mohammad Issa Sani, the Acting Minister of the Ministry of Public Works. Honorable Mullah Baradar Akhund had a meeting with the officials representing the companies responsible for the Salang highway reconstruction. He expressed his appreciation for their efforts and provided them with necessary directives to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of the remaining tasks associated with the Salang highway project. The Salang highway holds immense significance as a vital trade and transit route in Afghanistan. Currently, two different construction and road development companies have been engaged in the fundamental repair and reconstruction of this 80-kilometer road. An impressive 80 percent of the work has already been accomplished, and it has been decided that the pending tasks will be swiftly concluded, allowing a portion of this significant project to be made available for public use. The reconstruction of the Salang Highway is poised to significantly enhance trade and transit between Central Asia and South Asia through Afghanistan.
