April 6, 2013

The Economic Commission, headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund, considered the concept applicable which is developed by Da Afghanistan Bank for money exchangers. The concept is about regulating money exchangers, obtaining work permits and preventing money laundering to outside of Afghanistan.

Mr. Haji Ahmad, Deputy Director of Da Afghanistan Bank, said that every money exchanger must have a work permit, give a guarantee of 5 million Afghanis to Da Afghanistan Bank, and the monetary service companies must have 50 million Afghanis in cash with the bank.

He added that this will control the activities of hundreds of illegal money exchangers who were smuggling money out of Afghanistan.

In order to prevent importing low quality petroleum products into Afghanistan and its consequent damage to human health and vehicles, the Economic Commission also called applicable a concept developed by the state-owned oil and gas company through which they will import crude oil from other countries exclusively and then supply the raw material to the private sector for refining and processing.

According to the state-owned oil and Gas Company, most of the oil products entering the country without refining and processing have not only damaged the health of the people but also damaged the environment and vehicles.
