The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Acting Minister of Transport and Aviation, Mullah Hamidullah Akhundzada, representatives from the private sector, and a number of local residents.
The Deputy PM highlighted the construction of the Arghandi Transport Terminal as a vital step in the development of transport infrastructure in the country. He stated that the standard construction and expansion of transport infrastructure is a fundamental and essential step toward economic growth, national development, and domestic and regional connectivity.
According to the Deputy PM, decades of war and corruption have resulted in this vital sector being neglected. He added that the existing infrastructure has deteriorated due to poor quality, public lands have been usurped by individuals, and the right-of-way for highways and roads has been significantly narrowed.
Pointing to the importance of standard transportation infrastructure, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund emphasized that investments in transport and communication infrastructure, the recovery of usurped public lands, and the identification and restoration of original road right-of-ways are among the core national objectives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
He further noted that, in line with these goals, construction work on the Arghandi Transport Terminal is beginning today, which includes the development of 42 essential facilities.
Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund added that, considering the needs and resources of the current era, the Islamic Emirate is not only firmly committed to the development and expansion of transport infrastructure but is also actively pursuing other fundamental strategic objectives.
In conclusion, the Deputy PM extended his heartfelt congratulations to all citizens on the commencement of this significant national project and urged the contracting company to ensure high-quality completion within the set timeframe.
It is worth noting that the Arghandi Transport Terminal in Kabul Province will be constructed on approximately 900 jeribs of land with a total budget of 1.285 billion Afghanis, and the project will be implemented by the private sector within two years.
Upon completion, the terminal will enhance transportation facilities, play a key role in improving the efficiency and organization of logistics and transit operations, reduce transportation costs and traffic congestion, and provide employment opportunities to a large number of citizens.
