Contracts Signed for Electricity Generation and Transmission Projects Worth 20.7 Billion Afghanis

In the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, contracts for seven electricity generation projects and three electricity transmission projects were signed today, March 27, 2025, at the Government Media and Information Center, between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat and the private sector.
The seven electricity generation projects include a 40-megawatt solar power plant in Balkh province, a 5-megawatt solar power plant in Herat province, a 10-megawatt solar power plant in Laghman province, phase one (43.2 megawatts) of a 200-megawatt wind power project in Herat province, a 40-megawatt solar power plant in Logar province, a 40.25-megawatt solar power plant in Nangarhar province, and a 50-megawatt gas-powered electricity project in Jawzjan province. 
These projects will generate a combined capacity of 228.45 megawatts.
The electricity transmission projects include construction of the eastern power substation in Kandahar province, construction of a power substation in Qalat, Zabul province and the extension of a 110-kilovolt transmission line from Kajaki to Kandahar.
For the implementation of these projects, domestic and foreign private companies will invest a total of 20.7 billion Afghanis, and the projects will be completed in a standardized manner within the designated timelines.
