Meeting Held with a Private Company Regarding the Transfer of Water from Panjshir River to Kabul City

Today, August 21, 2025, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met with representatives of the private company Katwazi Group in his office.

Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund stated that the Islamic Emirate is aware of the water shortage challenges in Kabul city and is making serious and fundamental efforts to resolve the issue.

Representatives of Katwazi Group affirmed their readiness to invest in the project for transferring water from the Panjshir River to Kabul city, in full compliance with all standards and requirements. They added that, upon receiving the necessary information and documents from the Ministry of Water and Energy, their technical teams would be deployed to the field and would complete the survey and design of the project within two weeks.

The Deputy PM instructed the officials of the Ministry of Water and Energy to provide the existing information and documents related to the project to Katwazi Group and to engage in discussions with them regarding the technical, financial, and implementation aspects of the project.

He assured the company representatives of his cooperation and requested both the Ministry of Water and Energy and Katwazi Group to share their report with the Office of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs within two weeks.
