MoUs and Contracts Signed for 9,407 Megawatts of Power Generation

In the presence of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, memoranda of understanding for the generation of 9,123 megawatts of electricity and the construction of power infrastructure, as well as contracts for the generation of 284 megawatts of electricity, were signed today, August 6, 2025, at the Intercontinental Hotel during the Conference on Attracting Investment and Supporting Afghanistan’s Power Sector between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) and several investor companies.

In addition, practical work has also commenced on projects agreed between Uzbekistan and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, with an investment of 250 million USD. These projects include the extension of the 500 kV Surkhan–Pul-e-Khumri transmission line, the expansion of the Dasht-e-Alwan substation, the expansion of the Arghandi substation, as well as the extension of the 220 kV transmission line up to the Sheikh Mesri substation and the expansion of this substation.
