Azizi Energy Procures All Technical Equipment for 10,000 MW Power Generation

The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met today, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at his office with national businessman and investor Mirwais Azizi and his technical team.

Mirwais Azizi, Chairman of Azizi Energy, said that the company has procured all the technical equipment required to generate 10,000 megawatts of electricity and will soon begin transporting it to Afghanistan. He added that construction of a major cancer treatment hospital in the country will also begin in the near future.

Subsequently, the technical committee, comprising representatives of the relevant government institutions and Azizi Energy and operating under the leadership of the Office of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, presented its report. According to the report, feasibility studies have been completed and power purchase agreements signed for a 100 MW solar power project in Naghlu, Kabul province; a 100 MW solar power project in Barikab, Parwan province; and a 131 MW solar power project in Ghazni province. The committee further reported that work on the projects has already commenced at the respective sites.

In addition, technical discussions are ongoing regarding a 165 MW coal-fired power project in Takhar province, a 350 MW coal-fired power project in Baghlan province, the construction of the Naghlu and Ghazni substations, and the extension of a transmission line from Tarakhil area to Green Industrial Park in Kabul province. These technical matters are expected to be finalized soon. The committee also presented its recommendations for accelerating the implementation of the projects.

The Deputy PM commended the committee’s achievements and issued the necessary instructions to the relevant government institutions to further expedite the work. He directed that the remaining work in several areas be completed within two weeks and that a report be submitted to the Office of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs.

He assured Azizi Energy of full cooperation and urged the company to carry out its work effectively and complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe.
