A 10,000-Tonne-Capacity Oil and Gas Storage Facility Project at Islam Qala Port Deemed Worthy of Approval

The regular meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee was held on Sep 29, 2026, at the Marmarin Palace. During the meeting, a proposal for the construction of oil and gas unloading and loading facilities at the Islam Qala Port in Herat Province was presented and, following comprehensive discussions, was deemed worthy of approval.
According to the proposal, the private sector will construct oil and gas storage facilities with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes, along with other related infrastructure, at Islam Qala Port.
Upon completion, the project will provide greater in-country facilities for oil and gas traders, reduce their costs, and create employment opportunities for approximately 3,000 citizens.
