Under the leadership of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the regular meeting of the Economic Commission was held at Marmarin Palace

Under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Economic Commission convened today, August 20th, at Marmarin Palace to deliberate on a range of pivotal topics outlined in the agenda. In this routine assembly, following an exhaustive discussion on the formulation of Afghanistan's national development strategy, a consensus was reached to establish a collaborative committee comprised of member ministries and institutions of the Economic Commission. This committee will be overseen by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and coordinated by the Ministry of Economy. In accordance with the protocols and blueprints of all government departments, this committee will be responsible for the finalization and presentation of the strategy draft to the Economic Commission for endorsement. Besides, a joint committee was formed from the Ministry of Water and Energy, in conjunction with representatives from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. This committee, encompassing members from the Ministries of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mines and Petroleum, and Finance, has been entrusted with the crucial task of overseeing the management of acquired lands associated with the Kajaki Dam. This includes procuring the remaining lands and addressing sediment accumulation in the dam's basin. They are mandated to conduct an on-site feasibility assessment and subsequently submit their findings to the Economic Commission. Furthermore, a committee jointly comprised of the Ministries of Finance and Mines and Petroleum, under the guidance of Da Afghanistan Bank, has been assigned the responsibility of conducting a comprehensive investigation to curtail gold smuggling from Afghanistan. They will collaborate closely with the goldsmiths' union and present their discoveries to the Economic Commission. In conclusion, a protocol to counteract the importation and illicit trafficking of substandard and illegal drugs has been approved. To execute this protocol, a unified committee, consisting of deputy ministers from the Ministry of Finance, Interior, National Defense, Industry and Commerce, and the General Directorate of Intelligence, led by the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority, has been assigned the task."
