The ambassador of Japan met with first deputy PM of the IEA, Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund, in his office today. The two sides discussed political, economic, humanitarian, and other important issues. "Afghanistan's security is better than ever before, and no danger is posed to anyone," said Mr. Abdul Ghani Beradar. He added, "We want friendly relations with regional and international countries, including Japan, and are committed to working with them for the construction of Afghanistan." Mullah Beradar Akhund said, "Afghans’ $9 billion asset’s freezing and other sanctions by the U.S. and the international community are not humanitarian and should be unfrozen as soon as possible."

Japan's Ambassador, Takashi Okada, said: "We are working together with the IEA and will continue to contribute human aid to the people of Afghanistan in the future." He added, "The assistance we provide to the Afghan people should be transparently distributed to needy people."

Mullah Beradar Akhund said that foreign diplomats in Afghanistan were secure, and that countries should reopen their embassies in Afghanistan instead of advancing their embassies’ affairs from elsewhere. Mullah Sahib assured the Ambassador that the world's assistance to the Afghan people would be conveyed transparently to people in need.
