Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, undertook a significant visit to the provinces of Farah and Herat

Commencing on Saturday, the 20th of May, 2023, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, accompanied by the Minister of Water and Energy, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, and other esteemed government officials, visited Farah Province before proceeding to Herat Province. During the first day of his visit to Farah Province, Honorable Mullah Sahib inaugurated the construction of tunnels for the Bakhshabad dam in the Balablok District. Emphasizing the dam's importance and vitality for the people of Farah, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs assured the locals of its completion. In an address to the people, he reaffirmed the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's responsibility to address the challenges faced by the people of Farah and implement projects like the Bakhshabad Dam to improve their economic conditions. Expressing gratitude for the immense sacrifices made by the people of Farah in establishing the Islamic system in Afghanistan, Honorable Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund pledged his utmost efforts, utilizing available resources, to complete the remaining work on the Bakhshabad Dam.  The dam boasts a 50-kilometer-long canal on the right side and a 52-kilometer-long canal on the left side. Once completed, it will irrigate 68,590 hectares of agricultural land and generate a substantial amount of electricity. On the second day of his visit, Honorable Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, accompanied by the delegation, proceeded to Herat Province, where he visited Afghan carpet manufacturing factories. Engaging with the factory investors, he discussed product quality, marketing strategies, export facilitation, and the addressing of any existing challenges. Honorable Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund praised the contributions of these investors and industrialists in providing employment opportunities for their fellow countrymen, fostering domestic industry growth, and boosting the country's economy. Reaffirming the Islamic Emirate's commitment to resolving existing issues, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs assured full cooperation and facilitation in all areas. The officials of the Afghan carpet manufacturing factories in Herat expressed their satisfaction with the facilities provided since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, including improved security, reduced taxes, the ability to export Afghan products under Afghanistan's name and trademark, and the government's prompt actions in addressing people's concerns. They reiterated their unwavering support for the economic reconstruction of the country under the sincere and honest leadership of today. On the third day of his visit, Honorable Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund met with the officials of the 207 Al Farooq Corps in Herat. Present at the meeting were the Governor of Herat, Sheikh Al Hadith Maulana Noor Ahmed Islam Jar, Commander of the 207 Corps Maulvi Nasrullah Mati, and his deputy Mullah Abdul Shakoor. The Deputy PM for Economic Affairs commended the efforts of the 207 Al-Farooq Corps officials in ensuring security in the western zone of the country, offering them necessary recommendations to further strengthen security measures. In response, the officials of the 207 Al-Farooq Corps in the western zone of the country expressed their sincere dedication to protecting the security of their fellow countrymen, vowing to prevent hostile and destructive groups, particularly in the western region, from infiltrating Afghanistan. Concluding his three-day visit to Farah and Herat provinces, the esteemed Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, returned to the capital city of Kabul on Monday afternoon.
