The First Deputy Prime Minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, paid a visit to an exhibition arranged by the private sector and entrepreneurs at the Marmarin Palace. At the event, around 70 different types of pharmaceuticals, groceries, carpets, plants, paints, plastic pipes, batteries, and iron smelting and processing equipment were on display.
In the exhibition, Sherbaz Kaminzada, director of the Afghanistan Private Sector and Industrialists Association, stated that Afghanistan is currently self-sufficient in 60 different food and non-food commodities and will soon be able to export these items. Mr. Kaminzada added that in the past, Afghanistan used to import a lot of food items such as yogurt, cheese, biscuits, macaroni, rice, beans, and a variety of other items from neighboring countries, but now, fortunately, Afghanistan is self-sufficient in producing these items.
Kaminzada claims that Afghanistan will soon have its own exports of these items to the countries in the region, which will have a positive impact on the country's economy. During his speech, Mr. Kaminzada said that today Afghanistan has approximately 1100 functioning factories, which, in addition to strengthening the country's economy, have also provided employment to thousands of Afghans. "Hundreds of people are employed in the Takhar carpet factory, which provides them with the basic necessities of life," he stated.
The officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Mining claimed that if the domestic products of Afghanistan are well marketed both domestically and internationally, good outcomes are not far off. They added that Afghan carpets have been ranked number one in the world for the past few years, demonstrating their workmanship and quality.
The First Deputy Prime Minister, praised the products of the private sector and industrialists in Afghanistan, adding that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attempts for good marketing of domestic products not only at home but also abroad. Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar said the most important factor in a country's economic growth is the private sector, which could provide both affordable products and jobs for its people.
Sherbaz Kaminzada, director of the Afghan Private Sector and Industrialists Association, said that if the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan provide them with 24-hour electricity, ensures their security and lower taxes on exports to foreign countries, their production will increase remarkably. He said that their products are often smuggled by other countries in the region particularly by Pakistan, and then exported to the world as their own products, which has adversely affected their business.
Kaminzada called on the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to address these issues and prevent other countries in the region to export our products in their name anymore.
The First Deputy Prime Minister assured the representatives of the Afghan private sector and industrialists that all problems would be resolved, and ordered the relevant institutions to work on eradicating the challenges and provide the necessary solutions.
Mr. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar called on all Afghans to use their domestic products instead of foreign products, which can improve the country's economy and create work for many Afghans.
