On June 5, 2024 Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, hosted a meeting with Muhammad Yusuf Kalla, Chairman of the Red Crescent and Mosques Council of Indonesia and former Vice President of Indonesia, along with his delegation.

The discussions centered on enhancing political, economic, commercial, and developmental ties between Afghanistan and Indonesia. Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund highlighted the historically strong relations between the two nations, emphasizing that a solid foundation has been established for further development. He urged both countries to collaborate closely to strengthen these ties.

Mullah Baradar Akhund also pointed out that with the establishment of comprehensive security in Afghanistan, significant investment opportunities have arisen in sectors such as energy, mining, dams, infrastructure, and industry. He encouraged Indonesian investors to explore these opportunities, assuring them that the Islamic Emirate has created conducive conditions and will provide full cooperation for their ventures.

Muhammad Yusuf Kalla commended the progress in Afghanistan and expressed his intention to present an accurate portrayal of the country to the Indonesian government, people, and the international community. He stated Indonesia's desire to expand relations with Afghanistan across various sectors and mentioned the willingness of Indonesian investors to invest in Afghanistan's mining sector. Kala announced that an Indonesian economic delegation would visit Kabul soon to discuss joint economic cooperation and potential investments in Afghanistan's mines.

Both sides concluded the meeting by underscoring the importance of developing Afghanistan-Indonesia relations in political, economic, commercial, and educational fields.
