The project for conducting a detailed design and feasibility study of the Aghajan Dam in Uruzgan Province has been officially launched
On September 28, 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, formally inaugurated the project for the detailed design and feasibility study of the Aghajan Dam in Uruzgan.
During the inauguration, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund emphasized the importance of water management under the current circumstances, describing the implementation of this project as a significant step towards enhancing water management, agriculture, and economic development.
The survey and design of this dam have been initiated by the National Development Corporation following the decree of the esteemed Amir al-Mu'minin, and the project is expected to be completed within the specified timeframe.
The Aghajan Dam project is located in the Chenartu district of Uruzgan Province, and it is being implemented for controlling seasonal floods, irrigating agricultural lands, and strengthening underground water resources. The dam has a storage capacity of over 70 million cubic meters of water and will irrigate 7,000 hectares of agricultural land.
It is worth noting that on September 26, 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, inaugurated the Omari Dam in Zabul Province.
