Speech of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund during the performance of the Eid al-Fitr Prayer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
I sincerely congratulate all the citizens of the country and the Muslims of the Islamic world on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Fitr.
May Allah Almighty accept and bless your fasting, charity, good deeds, and worship.
It is truly a cause for happiness that after decades of hardship and insecurity, we are able to celebrate Eid and days of joy in complete peace, security, and unity.
Dear countrymen,
This bitter reality is clear to you: in the past, all the people of the country would pray and long for peaceful and secure Eids, but by the great grace and mercy of Allah, today your sacred wish has come true. Since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, we are now able to celebrate this Eid, just like previous ones, in an atmosphere of peace and happiness.
Dear Afghans,
Our happiness, sorrows, and progress are all shared. History has proven that no one else will bear our sorrows, and no one will rejoice in our happiness and progress. Therefore, it is necessary for all Afghans to maintain unity and solidarity and to work together for the development and prosperity of the country. Let go of the idea that foreign countries will come and rebuild our nation and bring us happiness—these are all failed and bitter experiences. It is our religious and national duty to learn from these failed experiences.
Happiness and peace are only possible in our own land. No matter how gilded a place may be, if there is no sense of ownership, peace and tranquility cannot be found. Therefore, regard your homeland as your own and serve it with complete sincerity.
Praise be to Allah, in the year 1403 SH, we have achieved remarkable progress in the economic field. Despite limited resources, we have made significant strides in infrastructure, transportation, exports, private investment, public projects, and public-private partnerships. Our economic and trade relations with neighboring countries have strengthened, and we have signed meaningful bilateral agreements to enhance trade. We have convinced investors that Afghanistan is a country suitable for investment in every aspect. As a result, many citizens have found employment opportunities, private investments have grown, and important steps have been taken toward economic development.
I call upon the countries of the world to benefit from this opportunity and to open the way for constructive and appropriate political and economic engagement with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Over the past few years, the Islamic Emirate has proven to the world that Afghanistan is completely safe, and it is ready for all kinds of appropriate interactions and relations within the framework of a policy focused on economic development and mutual respect.
Finally, once again, I extend my congratulations to all the citizens on the occasion of this blessed Eid. I urge everyone, for the sake of these blessed days, to turn their mutual enmities and grievances into friendship and happiness. Let us congratulate one another, forgive each other, and reconcile.
Allah's mercy and blessings be upon you.
