The regular meeting of the Technical Committee of the Economic Commission was held at Marmarin Palace. As per the agenda, the issue of designating Afghanistan as the starting and ending point for TIR operations in the country’s customs offices was presented for discussion.

Following a comprehensive discussion, it was concluded that, in accordance with the principles of the TIR Convention, any company wishing to designate Afghanistan as the country of departure for its TIR operation may do so. After cargo inspection and completion of legal procedures by customs authorities, the TIR operation can be officially initiated from Afghanistan.

This recommendation has been referred to the Economic Commission for final decision-making.
