Construction of an Overpass in Front of the Kabul Governor’s Office Begins
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, inaugurated the commencement of construction works of an overpass for vehicular traffic in front of the Kabul Governor’s Office.
The Deputy PM, taking into account population growth, the scale of economic activities, and the current condition of Kabul city, described urban development, transport infrastructure, and urban order as fundamental necessities, and stated that Kabul city must be developed in a modern manner based on an organized urban master plan.
He further added that, fortunately, Kabul Municipality, with a clear understanding of this need, has carried out remarkable and unprecedented efforts in the areas of urban transport and urban order in Kabul city, which are worthy of appreciation and commendation.
The Deputy PM also called upon the residents of Kabul to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining cleanliness and order in the city and to fully cooperate in the implementation of infrastructure projects.
At the conclusion, the Deputy PM urged the engineers of the project to complete the works properly while observing all required standards.
This overpass is 235 meters in length, 18 meters in width, and 6.8 meters in height. The total cost of the project is 462 million Afghanis, and its construction is expected to be completed within 15 months.
