Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, conducted an inspection of the ongoing work on the Salang Highway. During this visit, the acting Minister of Public Works, Mullah Muhammad Isa Thani, and several other officials were also present.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the completed reconstruction efforts on the Salang Highway and provided necessary instructions to the project officials regarding maintaining high standards of quality and ensuring the project’s timely completion. His Excellency emphasized during meetings with the contractors, implementation teams, and technical staff that rebuilding the country is a collective responsibility and a source of pride, highlighting the importance of their contribution to this national project.

The reconstruction of the Salang Highway is contracted in three phases between the Ministry of Public Works and the private sector. Currently, the work from the tunnel to the 16th rockfall barrier, including the application of CTB and concrete layers, has been completed, and reconstruction of 10 rockfall barriers in both the northern and southern Salang sections is ongoing.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that alongside the reconstruction of these rockfall barriers, asphalt paving of the Khanjan-Doshi road in the northern Salang region is also in progress.
