An emergency session of the High Commission for Disaster Management of the Islamic Emirate convened May 11, at Marmarin Palace, chaired by the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs. The meeting centered on assessing the recent flood-related losses incurred by citizens and outlining the necessary aid. Commencing the session, the chairman of the commission, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund conveyed heartfelt condolences for the losses sustained by fellow countrymen in Baghlan, Ghor, Badakhshan, Faryab, and Takhar provinces due to recent floods. He extended prayers for the departed souls, fortitude for the bereaved families, and swift recovery for the injured. In his address, Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund underscored Afghanistan's vulnerability to frequent natural calamities, stressing the imperative for responsive institutions to maintain full readiness to promptly assist citizens during such crises. During the meeting, committees were formed under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of State for Disaster Management and Red Crescent. These committees are tasked with delivering urgent aid to flood-affected citizens in the said provinces, encompassing rescue operations, relief distribution, healthcare provisions, food assistance, and funeral arrangements for the deceased. The commission's leadership directed the member ministries and agencies of the appointed committees to swiftly mobilize and deploy resources to the affected areas, ensuring immediate assistance reaches the injured citizens.
