The Economic Commission, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, held its first meeting. At the meeting, it was decided that the quality of diesel tankers imported from Iran to Afghanistan, numbering 1600, most of which do not meet the standards, should be filtered first and then marketed. Officials at the Afghan National Standards Authority (ANSA) said that the oil were imported into Afghanistan through transit, and contracted by TCRC. They added that they had canceled the company's contract and stopped importing such oil.
Some of these tankers are also harmful to the environment and humans. The (ANSA) says that if the oil is released into the market without refining, it could not only damage the car engine but also humans and the environment.
The Economic Commission, headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, decided that the oil shouldn’t be marketed before refining it.
The meeting also decided to extend two contracts worth over 3 million Afghanis for Afghan Telecom, a telecommunications company that serves people in over 20 provinces. According to these contracts, Afghan Telecom will provide telecommunication services to the people in 250 districts.
The director of Afghan Telecom, claims that they connect most of the remote areas with the provincial capitals and Kabul, implying that no other telecommunication network is operating there. He claims that if they do not provide services in these areas, the residents will face numerous problems.
