Hajji Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with Mr. Wang Yu, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Afghanistan. During the meeting, the implementation of the key economic projects that had been agreed upon by Afghanistan and China were the key topics of the discussion between the two sides. Mullah Baradar Akhund said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan wishes to strengthen the long-standing ties between China and Afghanistan. In addition, he mentioned that China holds the top spot in the international economic forum and urged it to make investments in Afghanistan. Adding further, he said that Afghanistan had a variety of natural resources and had turned out to be a secure place for investment. Mr. Baradar Akhund also urged China to include Afghanistan in the "One Belt One Road" initiative. During his part of the conversation, Chinese Ambassador Wang Yu stated that his country "wants to deepen its ties with Afghanistan and supports the new government in any situation." He claimed that China had plans to soon start the implementation of the projects and to finish off other major incomplete projects that were supported by the World Bank or the ADB. In addition, Mr. Yu requested information from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan regarding the projects that were high on their list of priorities so that they could plan their investment in those areas. The Chinese ambassador further stated that his nation would make every effort to maintain its bilateral ties and collaboration with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in any circumstance. Mr. Baradar Akhund concluded by saying that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan assures China of all its worries and that it wouldn’t feel threatened from Afghan territory.
