Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund was introduced to the Cabinet members, Economic Ministries and all independent state-owned enterprises as the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund, said: "During the last 20 years of occupation, no fundamental work has been done for the economic growth of the country and it has been hit hard by widespread corruption."

Mr. Mullah Sahib added that the IEA is working in coordination with the relevant agencies for the economic reconstruction of the country and is trying to make Afghanistan more self-sufficient.

Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, said: “The IEA supports all major economic projects and seeks to eradicate corruption.”

The Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, informed the gathering that Afghanistan is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of minerals, and the IEA is trying its best to extract these minerals and use them in the economic rehabilitation of the country.
