During its routine session at Marmarin Palace on February 6th, the Economic Commission addressed a range of topics, including the deployment of electronic scanners at 12 national customs ports by the private sector, as well as the economic strategy outlined by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. Chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the meeting approved the proposal for private sector involvement in installing scanners at the specified customs ports. Under this plan, private investors are set to invest approximately 8 billion Afghanis into the initiative through a public-private partnership. Additionally, deliberations ensued regarding the economic blueprint presented by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. Following a thorough assessment, the Commission designated the ministry as the primary policymaker for the initiative. Surveying, designing, and overseeing the project will fall under the ministry's purview, while implementation will be overseen by relevant ministries and agencies.
